Tsinjoriake, The Nature Sanctuary with Pink Flamingos

Tsinjoriake

Located on the outskirts of the RN7 road leading to Toliara, the protected area of Tsinjoriake, described as a 'natural monument and harmonious protected landscapes' offers spectacular natural sites.

Tsinjoriake extends to the gates of St. Augustine and its majestic cliffs, passing through a surprising mangrove swamp at the mouth of the Onilahy River.

Hundreds of flamingos live, year-round, in this little corner of paradise.

Tsinjoriake

Climbing the Montagne de la table is a journey in itself. The panorama overlooking the entire south west coast is breathtaking.

The mountain is full of plants with valuable therapeutic properties while on the Sarodrano coastal side, seaweed farming is developing. Sarodrano is a paradise peninsula inhabited by endemic birds of Madagascar.

In the protected area of Tsinjoriake, there are four hiking tours. First the tour of the Mountain Table and its panoramic view. Then, the tour of the caves of Binabe and Sarodrano to discover the sacred places and local rites. Another tour is the discovery of the Sarodrano peninsula with beautiful species of moringaceae including swimming or a small trip by pirogue. And finally, the last tour is of the bay of St. Augustine  where you can visit the village, mangrove and do the Bara Hill circuit overlooking the bay.

Fishing and the daily arrival of traditional sailing canoes are part of the lively life of this village.
