When to go
The best period to visit the Faraony waterfall and its surroundings is between June and November. In the other months of the year, the climate of the region is not always appropriate, particularly for a trip through the primary forest.
How to get there
From the capital, take a collective taxi along the RN7 main road towards Fianarantsoa. From there, you can either continue by road along the RN25 and the RN12, or take the train and get off at Sahasinaka. The waterfall of Faraony is 4km from the station, on the road to Manakara.
Where to stay
You can book a comfortable room in one of the hotels of the seaside resort of Manakara, which is a one- hour drive from Sahasinaka. You can choose between the hotels Antemoro, La Belle Vue, le Parthenay Club and La Vanille.
Where to eat
You can enjoy the local specialities served in the restaurants of Manakara, such as La Gourmandise, Les Délices or la Guinguette. However, you will need to bring some food for your trip to the Faraony waterfall. At Sahasinaka station, you will find a friendly crowd of street vendors offering to sell you all sorts of local delicacies, such as banana fritters, sambos and cooked crayfish. All delights not to be missed.
