Eco-Paradise - Lavanono

 
Lavanono is an enclave. Occupied by fishermen, it has no running water, but has become a tourist spot. A Frenchman who loved surfing named it Lavanono (his first name was ‘Gigi’). After several years of construction work, several infrastructures were set up and the constructor decided to set up an ‘eco-lodge’. Visitors have the impression of staying in paradise. Access is by 4 x 4 along a track and the traditional style bungalows, set in the sand, provide an environment of total peace and calm: completely in harmony with nature, with a view over the sea, the fragrance of flowers and a natural park teaming with endemic species. Situated 250 km from Fort Dauphin, Lavanono is a few dozen kilometres from the south-western tip of the Cap Sainte-Marie headland.

When to go

Between May and October, the temperature varies between 22° and 28°C in the shade and the sea temperature is between 23° and 27°C.

How to get there

You can fly from the capital of Madagascar to Fort-Dauphin with Air Madagascar / Tsaradia, then hire a car between Antananarivo and Lavanono, finishing the trip by 4 x 4.

Where to stay

In bungalows belonging to ‘Modge principal’, exact copies of houses in Antandroy. The living space is luxurious and comfortable.

Where to eat

The ‘Lavanono Surf Lodge’ offers high quality food using delicious local products (crayfish, zebu steak and oysters from Fort-Dauphin). Several local eateries in the area also offer healthy and tasty food such as charcoal grilled seafood.

What to see

Stunningly beautiful endemic species (cacti, baobabs and euphorbia). You can take a flight over the beautiful coast and lovers of surfing will not want to leave.
