A journey back in time in the city of Antsirabe

A thermal town, recognised by its water and its volcanic massifs, Antsirabe is located 170 km south of Antananarivo. Third largest city of Madagascar, it is the ideal city to spend a weekend or a holiday with family or friends.

The name "Antsirabe" comes from the Malagasy words "Any sira be" which means "where salta bounds". The salt in question comes from the presence of minerals in the waters of hot springs that are numerous in Antsirabe. One of the most charming cities of Madagascar, it contains monuments of the past, where the clock seems to have stopped. For your trip, first discover Independence Square, a large peaceful avenue where you can see from afar the old Antsirabe train station. Then go through the cathedral, a building dating from the 50s, with its European religious buildings, thus testifying to its colonial past. On the way you can enjoy the hotel spa, the hotel will plunge you into the 80s with its architecture of European lines.

Known to be the "water city", we recommend you visit Andranovisy which is another pride of Antsirabe. This water is not only beneficial for health but it gives a nice feeling to the body. To the west of the city, discover the Asabotsy Market and the Antsenakely Market and the Zebu Market. To end the discovery of the city in beauty, stop at the two volcanic lakes: Lake Andraikiba and Lake Tritriva, two large bodies of water surrounded by beautiful scenery conducive to relaxation and photo shoots.
